The People of A Cooler Planet
For founders and sisters Heidi Bailey and Krista White, A Cooler Planet grew from simple practices that gradually became habits and then passions in their own (decidedly regular) lives. A while ago, changes percolated around the edges of their daily routines, the kind of choice crossroads many of us have happened upon: a switch to organic milk, fruits and vegetables led to some carpooling and more walking and then to different perspectives about home furnishings.Along the way, Heidi and Krista also found themselves wondering about the systems around their choices, and then looking at how food and goods found its way into their homes. The questions they asked themselves echoed among their friends and within their communities, as more and more people sought to purchase goods that were sustainable, eco-conscious, and the product of fair labor. Over time, the number of products and the amount of information grew, but no one place brought them together to make the learning and the choosing simpler.
And so the idea of building that one place emerged. The one place where people could come together to learn about and buy the goods that would contribute to positive change for the planet began to take shape in Heidi’s and Krista’s minds. And that one place is A Cooler Planet.
